Avril Lavigne Is Set To Swap Singing For Acting

The diminutive star, who recently had roles in 'Fast Food Nation' and 'The Flock', is on the look out for a lead Hollywood role.

Avril is reportedly in talks with Sony BMG for a major part in a "thriller feature film", playing a "kind of a white trash girl".

The 22-year-old, who is already signed as a recording artist to Sony BMG, made her film debut voicing a character in the 2006 animated movie 'Over The Hedge'.

Despite having major success as a singer, Avril is said to be keen to do more "outside of music".

Avril - who shot to fame aged 17 with hit singles like 'Complicated' and 'Sk8er Boi' - has already turned her talents to modeling as well, landing a contract with Ford Models agency.

Avril Lavigne Did Not Go Topless For Blender Cover

Avril Lavigne has laughed off claims she stripped topless for the front cover of Blender, insisting camera trickery meant she could keep her clothes on.

The pop star shocked fans by flashing her flesh on the front of Blender magazine’s June (07) edition - particularly as she had criticised chart rivals for doing the same.

But Lavigne reveals she was actually dressed under the banner that barely covers her breasts.

She tells MTV.COM, "Actually, I’m not topless on the cover. I was wearing a tube top, and they just kind of put a banner on top of it."

Avril Lavigne Bashes On Britney's Recent Behavior

Avril Lavigne blames Britney Spears' weak will for her breakdown. She said Britney is too weak to cope with the fame.

Lavigne said: “What’s happened to Britney is all down to who she is as a person. If you want a piece of this business you have to be able to deal with it.”

“You can’t complain about the pressures, the paparazzi, the madness, because that’s your job.”

Avril also commented on Britney's recent drub abuse problem and the rehab ordeal.

Lavigne said she also drank but the difference is that she can handle it and she does it in a way: “no-one else needs to know”, not at all because no-one’s that interested in her of course…

I never was too fond of Avril, but I must agree with her on this one. There's no excuse for all the stupid stuff that Britney has been doing lately. I don't think it's all the pressure from the fame. I think she just made stupid decisions. Although it's true a lot of celebrities do drugs, but you don't see everyone shaving their heads, doing drugs, and tossing the children around. If fame was at fault, why aren't all the other celebs suffering the same thing.
